Sorry about the delay. Just back from London. Exhausted but revived, a pile of mixed feelings after two days in the English Capital; the beautiful atmosphere, the fans, the expectations before the game, then the game itself. Whatever happened at Stamford Bridge, we can be proud , whatever the result. Of course, Roma did not start as favourite, not much expectations, hardly anyone could foresee Roma getting much out of this one. For us, the trip was more about the “craic”. as they say in this part of the world. And rightly so.
A bright start, then the usual story, one mistake in dfense, capital punishment by David Luiz first, then Eddie Hazard. Two-nil down. Then a light is shed by Aleksander Kolarov, a solo slalom with a rocking ball behind the Chelsea keeper. 2-1. Hope. Roma played better then Chelsea until now, so unfairly down on the scoreline. Second half: We all expect some Chelsea raging-reaction to put the game beyond doubt, instead Roma starts again even brighter, dominating the opposition all over the pitch. Edin Dzeko, the real superstar here scoring two fantastic goals that send the Roma crowd in heaven. 2-3!
Later, another one near certain, a header that incredibly goes wide! it could wrapped up the game for Roma. 2-4? Nope. Instead another silly mistake allows Hazard to equalise. 3-3. Maybe a lost opportunity to seal victory and nearly secure second place in the group but also a great display to remember, a reminder that this Roma team can actually compete. In the meantime, Qarabag incredible draw against Atletico is another enexpected big help. We can do it! Next, Torino away. If we show this character anything is possible. Daje Roma!
